Friday, December 23, 2005

OQUAWKA - An early morning car chase Thursday in Henderson County led to the arrest of Robert B. Kane, 25, Stronghurst, for driving under the influence and aggravated fleeing to elude police.

Kane was arrested at 2 a.m. Thursday after he wrecked his 1999 pickup truck on County Road 900E, one mile south of U.S. 34.

Henderson County Sheriff Mark Lumbeck said officers from the Des Moines County Sheriff's Department in Burlington, Iowa, attempted to stop Kane for reckless driving, but he fled across the Mississippi River into Illinois, leading to the chase by Henderson County sheriff's deputies.
