Henderson sheriff faces challenge

Two others to face Lumbeck in primary

OQUAWKA - Two Democratic candidates will challenge Henderson County Sheriff Mark Lumbeck in the March 2006 Primary.

Filing nominations papers for the Democratic nod for sheriff were Lumbeck, Wesley Long, Stronghurst, and Brian Grisham, Lomax. No Republicans filed nomination papers for sheriff.

Incumbent Republican Henderson County Treasurer Susan Meyer is unopposed for re-election, but she will face Democrat candidate Nina Hurt, Oquawka, in the November 2006 General Election.

Incumbent Republican Henderson County Clerk Marcella Cisna is unopposed for re-election.

Six candidates filed nomination papers for the six open seats on the Henderson County Board, which is elected at large and not by districts.

The candidates include incumbent Republicans Curt Eisenmayer, Stronghurst, and Albert Renken, Stronghurst. Democrat incumbents include Marty Lafary, Gladstone, Hugh Pence, Lomax, and Terry Meyers, Stronghurst. Also running on the Democratic ticket is Jon Gullberg, Media. Incumbent Democrat Mike Thompson, Oquawka, did not seek reelection.
