Students showed great restraint

Editor, Register-Mail: Thanks to the Knox College students for showing their compassion and concern for the family and friends of a fallen hero. Their counter protest was respectful and dignified. They displayed more power with their silence than the protestors could have ever produced with their yelling. I was sickened to see that some people feel a funeral is an appropriate place to stage a protest.

I did not know Kyle Wehrly personally, but felt the sorrow of his loss, as did many local Americans. My husband and I have known his stepfather, Rick, for many years and can only imagine the pain Kyle's family is feeling. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kyle and his family, and to the counter protestors from Knox, who showed great restraint. - Cathy Wilson, Galesburg
