To the students of Knox College: I just felt compelled to write and thank you for the way in which all of you handled the situation with the hate group from Kansas.

We are honored to be a part of a community where the students can behave so admirably in such a potentially volatile situation.

We just moved here from Casper, Wyo., where the same hate group came and attracted national attention with its actions at the Matthew Shepard funeral several years ago.

You all deserve the highest of praise for your silent response - and should be commended for the dignity you showed in your devotion to a cause.
