Hurricane help

The following Galesburg-area businesses are accepting donations for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.- Wal-Mart, 2031 National Blvd. Checks should be made payable to: Wal-Mart/Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.
- American Red Cross, 143 E. Main St.
- Salvation Army, 320 N. Kellogg St.
- Lowe's of Galesburg, 531 W. Carl Sandburg Drive. Donations will be matched dollar for dollar by the corporation.
- Hy-Vee stores, 1975 National Blvd. and 2030 E. Main St., canisters at checkouts and service desk.
- Sandburg Mall, 1150 W. Carl Sandburg Drive, several drop-boxes throughout mall.
- Prairieland Animal Welfare Center, 1855 Windish Drive. Checks payable to PAWC or the ASPCA, to aid animal shelters affected.
- Midwest Bank of Western Illinois, 200 E. Broadway and County Market, Monmouth; 612 W. Main St., Galesburg; and locations in Oquawka, Kirkwood and Aledo.
- First Bank, 101 E. Main St., 1535 N. Henderson St. and 331 E. Main St., Monmouth. Checks, money orders or cashier's checks should be made out to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief.
- Community Bank of Galesburg, 1380 N. Henderson St., "Coins for Katrina" campaign. Donations will be presented to the Red Cross.
