Misdemeanor possession charge against Fike dropped

LEBANON, Ohio - A misdemeanor possession of drug abuse instruments charge against Galesburg native and NASCAR Crafstman Truck driver Aaron Fike was dismissed Tuesday in an Ohio court. No cause for the dismissal was available .

Fike still faces a Class 5 felony charge of possession of heroin, which carries a possible prison sentence of six to 12 months and a $2,500 fine.

According to an official in the Mason County State's Attorney's office, evidence for the felony charge has been turned over to an investigator. The case will appear before a grand jury before further action is taken.

According to the police report, Fike, 24, and his fiancee, Cassandra Davidson, 21, were in Fike's vehicle at King's Island theme park when an officer noticed suspicious activity.

Fike consented to a search of his SUV where police found a syringe with brown liquid inside. Fike allegedly told officers it was heroin.

Police found three used syringes, two spoons with drug residue, a box of new syringes, a box of alcohol swabs and two phone cords. Officers also found a cup with empty balloons.

Fike was replaced by Red Horse Racing by driver David Green.
