Field Day Tuesday in Monmouth

MONMOUTH - The 2007 Field Day at University of Illinois' Northwest Research Center at Monmouth will be Tuesday. Tours of research plots will begin at 8 a.m. The last tour will depart at 9 a.m., and each tour will take about two hours.

As part of the tour, Emerson Nafziger from U of I Extension will discuss nitrogen and population management for corn. Aaron Hager, from U of I Department of Crop Sciences, will present "Glyphosate-resistant waterhemp: what options remain?" Fabian Fenandez, from U of I Extension, will address managing P and K for continuous corn.

Carl Bradley, Extension plant pathologist, will provide insights on fungicides for corn and soybeans. Eric Adee from NWRC will talk about research on management of soybean cyst nematode.

There will be 0.5 hour of Certified Crop Adviser credits for nutrient management, 1.5 hours for integrated pest management, and 0.5 hour for crop management. Refreshments will be served.

The NWRC is located about one mile north and four miles west of the intersection of U.S. 34 and U.S. 67 on the north side of Monmouth.
