OSF awards five annual scholarships

GALESBURG - OSF St. Mary Medical Center announced the recipients of the annual Auxiliary Scholarships. Nicole Phillips, Elizabeth Wright, and Amber England, all students of the Carl Sandburg College ADN Program, Nikki Kidd, a student of the Southern Community College Respiratory Therapy Program, and Jennifer Talbert, a student of Western Illinois University's Health Services Management Program, received scholarships from the OSF St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary. This year's scholarships totaled $5,500, which was generated through fund-raising efforts, gift shop revenue and memorials made to the auxiliary. The OSF Auxiliary awarded 10 scholarships this year.

Each scholarship applicant is evaluated based on need and eligibility. Applications are available through the volunteer office and are awarded to students entering a healthcare major. Applications were due by May 1 and applicants must re-apply every year and provide transcripts as proof they are continuing a healthcare major. There is a maximum amount each recipient can receive over a 4-year period. Upon completion of school, if a position is available at St. Mary's, the recipient is required to work at the hospital for a minimum of two years.

For more information about the scholarship program or to schedule an interview, call Shannon Anderson, marketing/PR coordinator at 344-3161, Ext. 4604.
