William 'Bill' H. Hambsch

1915-2005

GALESBURG - William "Bill" H. Hambsch, 90, 1766 Log City Trail, died at 10:05 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 10, 2005) at home.

He was born July 25, 1915, in Rio, the son of Henry and Nora F. Power Hambsch.

Surviving are a sister, Alice Egan, Galesburg; two nephews; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

He graduated from Corpus Christi High School.

He served in the Army Medical Corps from 1941 to 1945, serving in the Philippines during World War II.

He was a self-employed farmer for many years.

He was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus (3rd Degree), and a member of Knox County Farm Bureau and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday in Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Mary Egan Scholarship Fund through the Knox County Council for Developmental Disabilities or to a charity of the donor's choice.
