5 arrested for meth after investigation

GALVA - Three Galva residents were among five area people who were arrested following a lengthy investigation into the production and distribution of methamphetamine in Henry County.The arrests were made Friday by the Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team, in conjunction with the Kewanee, Galva and Toulon police departments and the Henry and Stark County sheriff's offices.
Galvans arrested and their charges were:
- John E. Bengston, 47 - unlawful purchase of pseudoephedrine, Class B misdemeanor.
- Leonard H. Bengston, 51 - two counts of unlawful purchase of pseudoephedrine, Class B misdemeanor.
- Vicki S. Bengston, 44 - three counts of unlawful purchase of pseudoephedrine, Class B misdemeanor.
The Bengstons were taken to Henry County Jail, where they were released on bond, according to the Henry County Sheriff's Office.
Also arrested were Megan Wood, 30, Toulon, and Ashley Schwigen, 20, Kewanee. They were charged with methamphetamine conspiracy, unlawful participation in methamphetamine manufacturing, unlawful possession of methamphetamine precursors, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and unlawful purchase of pseudoephedrine.
Wood and Schwigen were jailed on $100,000 bond each, according to the (Peoria) Journal Star.
