Faith Lutheran bids pastor farewell

WATAGA - Faith Lutheran Church, Wataga, will have a farewell service for the Rev. Jill Vivroux on Sunday. Church service is at 10:30 a.m. with dinner to follow. The church will provide barbecue sandwiches, drinks and table service. Church members are asked to bring a dish to pass.

The public is invited.

Harmony Baptist announces VBS

GALESBURG - Harmony Baptist Church, 1530 Brown Ave., will have vacation Bible school "Mystery at Stone Castle" from 9:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.

All children ages 4-11 are invited to attend a week packed with songs, skits, stories, games, snacks and more. Online registration is available at www.hbcgalesburg.org or children may register at VBS on Monday morning. For additional information, call 344-2144.

The King's Brass concert Thursday

GALESBURG - A concert featuring The King's Brass will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, 120 N. Kellogg St. The public is invited. A free-will offering will be taken.

Baby shower brunch Aug. 5 in park

GALESBURG - Knox County Right to Life is sponsoring a Community Baby Shower Brunch for The Women's Pregnancy Center of Galesburg from 8 to 11 a.m. Aug. 5 at Lake Storey Park Shelter No. 2. All are invited to attend.

Layettes are available at the Pregnancy Center as the need arises. Diapers always are needed. Gently used items including car seats, bassinets, changing tables, baby cribs and mattresses as well as maternity clothes are all greatly appreciated.

Churches combine for Bible school

WATAGA - The combined churches of Wataga will sponsor vacation Bible school Aug. 7-11 at Wataga Congregational Church.

The program is for children from preschool through sixth grade. An adult Bible study will be held each night, too. Enrollment is at 5:45 p.m. and the program is 6 to 8 p.m. each night. The theme is "Davey and Goliath's Circus Spectacular." The program concludes with an open house Aug. 11.

Congregation finishes 'Operation Cookies'

WATAGA - Wataga Congregational Church members baked, sorted and wrapped 64 dozen cookies to send to military members overseas.

Virginia Cherrington headed "Operation Cookies" to benefit service personnel connected with the church. The church plans to bake more cookies to send overseas later this year.

Covenant Church 'fired up about Jesus'

GALESBURG - Vacation Bible school is Sunday through Thursday at Covenant Church, Dayton and Jefferson streets.

The program, "Fiesta - Where kids are fired up about Jesus," is for children 3 years old through fifth grade. The public is invited. For more information, call 344-1711.
