Ewalt will lead Diabetic Association
MONMOUTH - Golda Ewalt is president-elect for the Illinois Diabetic Association.

Ewalt grew up in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School. Her parents, Mary and Roy Ewalt, still live in Monmouth.

Ewalt serves as director of the Diabetic Internship program at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. She has been with St. Francis for 10 years and earned her bachelor's degree in dietetics from Western Illinois University and a master's degree in healthcare administration from St. Francis University in Joliet.

She lives in Peoria with her husband.

Lea Chapin joins chiropractic clinic
GALESBURG - Lea Chapin has joined the Midtown Chiropractic Clinic of Galesburg as a licensed massage therapist.

She has 15 years of experience and is the owner and operator of Health Alternatives of Galesburg.

Chapin will maintain limited hours at Midtown Chiropractic Clinic on Tuesday, Thursdays and every other Saturday.

Drs. Luke and Mary Sakalosky own the business.

GREDA renews Hanson's contract
GALESBURG - The Galesburg Regional Economic Development Association Board of Directors has renewed the organization's contract with Eric Hanson, who is the community and economic development educator for the University of Illinois Extension.

GREDA has contracted with Hanson for services related to attraction efforts in China, as well as helping with rural development and GREDA's new residential attraction marketing program, "Come Home to Galesburg."

Blick promotes Carter to senior spot
GALESBURG - Linda Carter was promoted to senior marketing associate at Dick Blick Art Materials on May 9.

She began working at Blick on Aug. 11, 1997, as retail administrative support and has also held the position of circulation assistant.

Carter and husband Steve live in Knoxville and have two children, Joe and Kelly.

Hunigan top nurse choice of patients
GALESBURG - Elvria Hunigan of Galesburg has been given the first Patients' Choice Award at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

The honor recognizes one outstanding nurse as voted for by current and past patients or their family members.

The award was presented May 13 at the conclusion of National Nurses' Week. During March and April the hospital encouraged patients who received care in the past two years to nominate their favorite nurse. Nomination forms were distributed to current patients, and newspaper ads invited nominations via mail or e-mail from former patients or their relatives.

In their nominations, patients commented that Hunigan is kind, professional and compassionate and go the extra mile in caring for them.

Hunigan, a medical/surgical nurse, has worked at Cottage Hospital for more than 25 years. Fellow staff members shared their enthusiasm about her selection.

Bramlett inducted to Wick Hall of Fame
ROCK ISLAND - Harold Bramlett of Rock Island, formerly of Wataga and Galesburg, was inducted into the Wick Buildings Hall of Fame.

Bramlett has been with Wick Buildings for 29 years and has sold more than 1,850 buildings, making him the second highest producer for the company.

He owns Bramlett Construction Inc., which is a dealer for Wick Buildings.

Azer's Ellis attends session on arm care
GALESBURG - Elizabeth Ellis, occupational therapist with Azer Rehab Systems PC, recently attended "How to Treat the Arm after Stroke."

New treatment ideas and testing were reviewed in restoring function to the arm and hand, managing edema, pain and immobility for the patient recovering from a stroke. Azer Rehab Systems PC is a provider of outpatient rehab, health and fitness services, long-term care and home health services for Galesburg and the surrounding communities.

BNI meets Tuesday in Knoxville
KNOXVILLE- Local business people are invited to attend a meeting of the local chapter of Business Network International at 7 a.m. Tuesday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Public Square.

Geoff Hurd will give a tour of the home. Visitors are welcome.

BNI is a business and professional networking organization that allows one representative from each profession to join. The sole purpose of the group is to give its members more business. BNI teaches business people about developing relationships that result in referrals for each other. They meet from 7 to 8:30 a.m. each Tuesday.

Cratty Agency earns quality award
GALESBURG - Cratty Insurance Agency, Galesburg, has received Rockford Mutual's Champion Quality Agent Award.

This recognition is given each year to a select group of agencies that have demonstrated growth, profitable results and outstanding service to their policyholders.

Mike Cratty owns the agency.

CMC employees honored for service
MONMOUTH - Community Medical Center in Monmouth honored 34 employees for their years of service at the Annual CMC Employee Service Awards Banquet on May 16 at Generations Restaurant in Monmouth.

Judy Miller, director of acute care and cardiac rehabilitation, was honored for her 45th year. Miller, who has lived in Monmouth all her life, has been involved in almost every aspect of care at the hospital in her 45 years.

Conolly attends estate planning
GALESBURG - Dawn A. Conolly, a partner in the firm of McDonald & Conolly, attended the 48th Annual Estate Planning Short Course for the 25th consecutive year.

The course is sponsored by the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education. This is an intensive program in estate planning with an emphasis on tax aspects of inter vivos and death transfers.

GALESBURG - Tom Boyd and Jim Smith of Mangieri Heating & Cooling earned North American Technician Excellence certification on March 22.

NATE is the leading certification program for technicians in the HVAC industry. Their earning this recognition allows Mangieri Heating & Cooling to receive factory-authorized dealer status.
