ROCK ISLAND - Louis T. Perfi, 86, Rock Island, died Saturday (May 20, 2006) in Trinity Medical Center-West, Rock Island.

He was born Jan. 17, 1920, in New Castle, Pa., the son of Angelo and Georgia Meadows Perfi.

He married Ruth Rings on Nov. 2, 1973, in Rock Island.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Rev. Dan (and Maureen) Shaner, Springfield, and Patrick (and Sharon) Shaner, Moline; a daughter, Barbara Shaner Hartseil, Bloomington; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.

He spent his childhood and attended grade school in Abingdon. He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1938.

He worked at Blue Bell Corp. for 10 years and Rowe Manufacturing Co., Galesburg, for 25 years. He retired from McLaughlin Body, Moline, in 1985 after 11 years. He became a resident of Rock Island in 1973.

He collected trains and enjoyed auctions.

Service was today in Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, with the Rev. Dan Shaner officiating. Burial was in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.
