MEDIA - Frances E. "Lottie" Avery, 72, Media, died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday (May 8, 2005) in Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa.

She was born June 6, 1932, in Lomax, the daughter of Joe and Florence Worley Rettig.

She married Lee Avery on Dec. 4, 1948, in Thermopolis, Wyo.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Connie (and Darrell) Kraft, LaHarpe, and Dianna (and Mike) Duncan, Media; two sons, Neal (and Patty) Avery, Media, and Sheldon (and Diane) Avery, Glenborn, N.D.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; an aunt; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

She had worked at Sylvania Corp. and Ross Electronics Co. in Burlington. She later worked as a nurse's aide at the LaMoine Christian Nursing Home, Roseville, and in the housekeeping department of Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center, Stronghurst.

She was a member of the Stronghurst United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed bingo, going to the riverboat casino and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Carman Cemetery, with the Rev. George Knox officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home, Stronghurst. No family visitation is planned.

Memorials may be made to the Liver Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
