Tuesday, April 25, 2006GALESBURG - Sheila Redington, 44, 1453 W. Losey St., died at 7:12 a.m. Sunday (April 23, 2006) in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
She was born Sept. 30, 1961, in Galesburg, the daughter of Hugh and Mary Urich Barnes.
She married Tim Redington on May 24, 1980, in Galesburg.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Philip and Chandler, and two daughters, Shannon and Shavonne, all at home; her father and stepmother, Hugh and Betty Barnes, Galesburg; two brothers, Bill Barnes, Galesburg, and Rick Barnes, Rockford; three sisters, Carol McDorman, Largo, Fla., Debbie (and Robin) Stansell, Fountain Hills, Ariz., and Sandy Reed, Rockford; and 22 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother.
She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1979 and was a certified teacher's aide.
She was a pre-school teacher at Costa Catholic School and was the GHS cheerleading coach.
She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and its Ladies of Mary. She was a past Girl Scout leader, past soccer coach at the YMCA and past athletic director for Costa Grade School. She was her neighborhood watch block captain and room mother for Costa first grade. She ran the Carl Sandburg cheerleading camp in the summer with her daughter, Shannon. She also was vice president of C.C.A.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, with the Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church; family will present from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Watson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
