GALVA - Rebecca "Becky" Ann Holmes, 52, Galva, died at 5:15 p.m. Saturday (April 22, 2006) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.She was born July 2, 1953, in Kewanee, the daughter of James S. "Sherm" Sr. and Anna Rebecca "Becky" Spalding Raley.
She married Daryl Holmes on June 22, 1974, in Galva.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Ryan Holmes, Chicago; two daughters, Amanda Holmes and Jennifer Holmes, both of Galva; three brothers, Sherm Jr. (and Pat) Raley, Galva, Tom (and Sandy) Raley, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Joe (and Vicki) Raley, Waterloo, Iowa; four sisters, Shirley (and Roger) Norberg, Woodhull, and Kathy (and Ronnie) Thompson, Stella (and Wendell) Gilbreath, and Sharon (and Don) Milliken, all of Galva; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, two nephews and a niece.
She graduated from Galva High School in 1971.
She did housekeeping for Rip Everett and had also worked at the Galva Foundry, Fahnstroms and Gambles.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Her hobbies included gardening and interior decorating.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Burns officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rux Funeral Home, with a rosary at 4 p.m. Cremation will be accorded following the service and private inurnment will be later.
Memorials may be made to the Galva Park District or American Cancer Society for cervical cancer research or to an educational fund for her daughters.
