GALESBURG - Paul J. Villarreal, 18, 2240 Daniel Drive, died at 8:46 a.m. Saturday (April 22, 2006) at 121 W. Simmons St., Galesburg.He was born Jan. 6, 1988, in Galesburg, the son of Gumaro Villarreal and Mary L. Lopez.
Surviving are his father of Galesburg; his mother of Galesburg; a daughter, Alicia Carasca, Galva; two brothers, Adrian Cervantez, Peoria, and Gumaro Villarreal, Galesburg; five sisters, Monica Cervantez, Chicago, and Sylvia Cervantez, Felicia Villarreal, Riley Villarreal, and Petra Villarreal, all of Galesburg; and his maternal grandfather, Chino Lopez. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ruth Lopez, and his paternal grandparents, Hope and Daniel Villarreal.
He worked for the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation as an assistant to people with disabilities.
He was active in the YMCA and participated in basketball, football, baseball, and soccer while in school.
He attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
He enjoyed fishing.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Presley officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Watson Funeral Home, with the rosary to be prayed at 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to an education fund for his daughter, Alicia.
