WALNUT - Marion E. Borop, 96, 110 Main St., Walnut, died Wednesday (April 19, 2006) at Walnut Manor Nursing Home.He was born Feb. 15, 1910, in Ames, Iowa, the son of Guy and Grace Pitkin Borop.
He married Alice D. Parsons on Feb. 10, 1938, in Lanark. She died Feb. 12, 2000.
Surviving are a son Gene (and Sharon) Borop, Antioch; a daughter. Linda Hamilton, Galesburg; a sister-in-law, Edith Borop, Rockford; four grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard Hamilton, and a brother.
He was a 1928 graduate of Walnut High School and attended Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. He farmed in the Walnut area.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, with the Rev. Paul Nolden officiating. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Walnut Cemetery.
