Man gets 4 years on meth charges

GALESBURG (GNS) - A Galesburg man was sentenced to four years in prison Wednesday on methamphetamine charges.

Lance D. Petty, 22, pleaded guilty in Knox County court to one count of possession of a meth precursor.

Petty was arrested Dec. 30 in Wataga after police said he was caught stealing anhydrous ammonia, a common ingredient in meth-manufacturing.

Police said a search of Petty's home turned up 111 grams of liquid ephedrine and 47 grams of powdered ephedrine, which also is used to make meth.

Petty originally faced charges of possession of anhydrous ammonia, possession of anhydrous ammonia in an unauthorized container, unlawful participation in meth production and unlawful possession of a meth precursor.
