Hazardous waste collection April 14

ALPHA - The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency will conduct a household hazardous waste collection from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14 fat the Henry County Fairgrounds in Cambridge.

Alpha Police Chief Keith Taflinger told the Alpha Village Board this week the event is co-sponsored by the Henry County Farm Bureau and provides an opportunity for area residents to dispose of hazardous waste products.

Acceptable items include oil base paints, paint thinners, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, old gasoline, pool chemicals, cleaning products, mercury, double bagged and wetted asbestos, household batteries, used motor oil, drain cleaners, lawn chemicals, solvents, antifreeze, hobby chemicals, aerosol paints and pesticides and fluorescent lamb bulbs. No latex paint will be accepted.

The fairgrounds are located on East North Street in Cambridge.
