Board approves landscaping plan
$715 covers regular work, seed, gravel

Woodhull - The Clover Library at Woodhull qualified for the Illinois Public Library per capita grant and will receive $3,042.The Office of Secretary of State, Jesse White, notified the library of the grant, with more than $14 million awarded through the Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grant program to Illinois public libraries.
The library board last week approved the estimate of $715 from Rutledge Landscaping of Alpha for maintenance and seasonal work to the lawn and shrubs. The initial cost was the same as previous years, $465, with the added cost of $75 for lawn seed application and $175 for gravel around the shrubs.
Head librarian Rene Bramlett reported on plans for the summer reading program, including the kick-off party June 8 with special guest magician, ventriloquist, puppeteer and storyteller Rob Erdmann. The event will be at 9:30 a.m.
Other special guests include Roy Gustafson from the Astronomy Club in the Quad Cities, 2 p.m. June 15; LeAnn Fujimoto from the Challenger Learning Center, July 13; as well as local storytellers Carol VandeWalle, Carol Nichols, Jill Petrie, Cheyanna Losey, Mary Fuson and the Girl Scout Troop.
SOAR (Students Offering Assistance to Readers) will be Mondays and Wednesdays. A complete schedule of these activities and events is available at the library.
Summer employees will be students Ryan Bramlett and Dana DeSutter. They will assist with story hour, children's activities and other general projects during the summer months.
Board members approved the Illinois Non-Resident card program with a fee of $65 for any non-resident card.
