Knox choir gives comecoming concert Friday Thursday, March 22, 2007 GALESBURG - The Knox College choir and Chamber Singers present their Home Tour Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Kresge Hall, Ford Center for the Fine Arts, on the Knox campus. The concert is free and open to the public.The concert caps the choir's spring 2007 performance tour March 12-18, featuring concerts in Atkinson, Rockford, Wheaton and Chicago. The concert by the 53-voice Knox College choir, conducted by Laura Lane, includes works from Renaissance composers Palestrina and di Lasso, through contemporary pieces by American composers Moses Hogan and Eric Whitacre, as well as works by Maurice Durufle of France, Sarah Hopkins of Australia, Juris Karlsons of Latvia, and Emile Desamours of Haiti. The Knox Chamber Singers, an elite 21-voice ensemble selected from among members of the choir, will perform a cappella works by 16th-century composers Des Prez and Monteverdi, and 20th-century composer Morten Lauridsen. Lane is professor of music, chair of the music department, and director of choral activities at Knox College. She has taught music history, vocal performance and conducting at Knox since 1983. A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, she completed a master's degree at Westminster Choir College and a doctorate at the University of Iowa. Lane also is the founder and director of Nova Singers.
