Six face felony meth charges

ALEDO - Six people were arrested on felony drug charges Friday; all are being held in the Mercer County Jail.

Arrested were Chad Moore, 23, Galesburg; Sean Moore, 25, Galesburg; Christopher Van Swearingen, 17, Galesburg; Douglas Mahnesmith, 32, Galesburg; Michael Van Winkle, 30, Knoxville; and Christopher Renner, 24, Galesburg. The six are facing felony charges of unlawful participation in methamphetamine production, unlawful methamphetamine conspiracy, unlawful possession of anhydrous ammonia in an unauthorized container and tampering with anhydrous ammonia equipment.

The charges stem from incidents Wednesday when the defendants allegedly attempted to steal anhydrous ammonia from Crop Production Services in North Henderson. Both Moores, Van Winkle and Renner are being held on $100,000 bond with Mahnesmith and Van Swearingen held on $75,000 bond. Preliminary hearings have been scheduled for Thursday.
