Beverly B. Adlfinger
Wednesday, February 13, 2008GALVA - Beverly B. Adlfinger, 90, of Galva, died at 6:58 a.m. Monday (Feb. 11, 2008) at Kewanee Hospital Emergency Room.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Rux Funeral Home, Galva. The Rev. Martin Gutzmer will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Bishop Hill Heritage Association.
Beverly was born Aug. 15, 1917, in Clinton, Iowa, daughter of Clarence Francis and Joan Janelle (Johnstone) Bager. She married Donald M. Adlfinger on Feb. 21, 1939, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death Nov. 16, 1976.
She is survived by one daughter, Suzanne (Warren) Schulz of Bishop Hill; two grandchildren, Colette (Larry) Dhooge of Cordova and Dr. Steven (Narina) Schulz of East Rochester, N.Y.; one daughter -in-law, Christine Adlfinger of Rock Island; two sisters, Mary Glockhoff of Rock Island and Nancy (E.B.) Carleton of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two great-grandchildren, Brett and Bridgette Saathoff; and several nieces and nephews. Also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jacqueline Barrett; a son, Donald Brian Adlfinger; and a great-grandson, Matthew Saathoff.
Beverly graduated from Rock Island High School in 1935. She lived in Rock Island for many years and lived at Bickford Cottage in Moline from September 2005 to January 2008. She recently moved to Courtyard Estates in Galva to be closer to her daughter. She was of Methodist faith. She was a member and officer of Rock Island Women's Club, a P.T.A. officer at Denkmann School and a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She belonged to the King's Daughter Circle and served as an election judge. She loved collecting antiques for her home, sewing quilts, doing needlepoint, traveling and being with her family.
