Knox grad to speak about his film

GALESBURG - Filmmaker Vincent Singleton will show and talk about his short film, "The Forgotten West," at 8 p.m. Friday in Kresge Hall, Ford Center for the Fine Arts at Knox CollegeThe event is free and open to the public.
The film is a dramatic short about one of the "Buffalo Soldiers," black regiments in the U.S. Army, made up primarily of Civil War veterans, who fought in the Indian Wars in the American West from the 1860s through the 1880s.
Singleton is a 2003 Knox College graduate who completed the film while studying at Columbia College in Chicago. The film won the Best Cinematography Award at the 2006 Columbia College Student Film Festival and earlier this year was featured at the Apple Store in Chicago as part of its "Made On a Mac" Presentation Series. It also has been shown at numerous festivals, including the 2006 Hollywood Black Film Festival, the 2006 Black Earth Film Festival in Galesburg, and the 2006 Golden Lion Film Festival in Swaziland, Africa.
