GALESBURG - Mrs. Clara V. Millen, 95, 550 E. Carl Sandburg Drive, died at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 6, 2008) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

She was born Feb. 2, 1913, in Hanover, the daughter of Alfred R. and Bessie Nesbitt Virtue. She married the Rev. Dr. William D. Millen on June 24, 1936, in Hanover. He preceded her in death May 14, 2005.

She is survived by a son, Dr. James W. (and Gail) Millen of Westland, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Armstrong of Hanover; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Cook, on Jan. 6, 2008, and a brother.

She taught rural school for several years. She was a 1936 graduate of Monmouth College. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Galesburg. She served as secretary and clerical associate for Major Mission Fund and Church Finance Campaign Ministry Service.

Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David Parker officiating. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be later in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Monmouth College, First Presbyterian Church, Galesburg, or Rio Presbyterian Church.
