GALESBURG - Jack L. Nelson, 69, 1351 W. Carl Sandburg Drive, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2008) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

He was born Sept. 7, 1938, in Galesburg, the son of Leslie and Wilma Smith Nelson. He married Linda Commean on Oct. 22, 1960, in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Todd L. (and Bobbi) Nelson, Tempe, Ariz., Trent L. (and Shawn) Nelson, Galesburg, and Troy L. (and Pam) Nelson, Galesburg; a daughter, Tabby (and Drew) Henderson, Farmington Hills, Mich.; two brothers, Dr. Mike (and Peggy) Nelson, St. Louis, Mo., and Carl (and Jill) Nelson, Abingdon; stepmother Ruth Nelson, Galesburg; mother-in-law Helen Commean, Galesburg; sister-in-law Terri Commean, Galesburg; brother-in-law Bud (and Joyce) Commean, Galesburg; five grandchildren, Erica Nelson, Caitee Nelson, Trevor Nelson, Taylor Nelson and Trinna Nelson; and two stepgrandchildren, Elizabeth Carlson and Drew Carlson.

Jack was an antique dealer for 38 years. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1956 and attended Bradley University. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved traveling.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Don Reynolds will officiate. Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
