Delphine M. Heaton
Wednesday, January 23, 2008GALESBURG - Delphine May Heaton, 83, 225 Illini Drive, died at 8 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 20, 2008) at home.
She was born May 16, 1924, in Cazenovia, the daughter of Aaron J. and Charlotte K. Gehring Finley. She married W. A. "Bill" Heaton on Dec. 6, 1952, in Peoria. He preceded her in death April 5, 1990.
She is survived by a son, James W. (and Lucia) Heaton, Gillette, Wyo.; two daughters, Susan L. (and Paul) McCarren, Wheeling, and Marjorie E. (and Bob) Mackie, Blenheim, New Zealand; and four grandchildren, Tara Heaton and McKenzie Heaton, both of Gillette, and Elise McCarren and Julia McCarren, both of Wheeling. She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
She worked during WWII in factories supporting our country's efforts. She was raised in the Cazenovia area and graduated from Metamora High School.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, where she volunteered her time. She also volunteered for the Girl Scouts, Galesburg Cottage Hospital and several other organizations. She was a member of P.E.O.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Dr. Scott Grulke will officiate. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Truro Cemetery near Victoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission or Community Hospices of America.
