Betty J. Mentzer 1925-2008 Tuesday, January 22, 2008 GALESBURG - Mrs. Betty J. Mentzer, 82, 1707 Brown Ave., died at 9:07 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 20, 2008) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.She was born Dec. 26, 1925, in Greenville, the daughter of Arthur M. and Blanche N. Haun Benson. She married Morse V. Mentzer on Oct. 23, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1995. She is survived by one brother, Arthur J. "Bud" Benson of Galesburg; and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Reggie Mentzer; and one daughter, Sheila Kay Mentzer. She worked on the assembly line at the former Galesburg Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation in Galesburg for 24 years. She graduated from Galesburg High School. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel; the family will not be present for the visitation.
