GALESBURG - Daisy L. Walberg, 94, Galesburg, passed away at 11:14 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at Seminary Manor.

She was born July 23, 1913, in Penn, N.D., to John Henry and Alvina Riek Gessner.

She married Maynard E. Walberg on Sept. 30, 1939 in Penn. He died April 12, 1992.

She is survived by three children, Lynne (husband Roland) Friestad of Galesburg, Peter (wife Darlene) Walberg of Forsyth and Sylvia (husband Bill Carpenter) Barnard of Ennis, Mont., seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Daisy graduated from Penn High School and earned a BS degree in biological science at North Dakota Agricultural College, now North Dakota State University, in 1937. She worked in the education department until her marriage to Maynard, also a graduate of NDAC.

At the time of her death, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg and the Home Culture Club. She was a phenomenal gardener, raised beautiful African violets and loved the outdoors. She loved music and especially enjoyed it when the immediate family gathered to sing around the piano. She cared for her family as a homemaker with all the skills that entails, taught her children discipline at an early age and encouraged them to reach for their highest potential.

Cremation was accorded. Service will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 26, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church, Galesburg.
