Roberta F. Wood
Wednesday, January 16, 2008KNOXVILLE - Roberta F. Wood, 72, 932 Leanne Drive, died at 8:53 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 15, 2008) at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born Aug. 19, 1935, in Elmore, the daughter of Walter A. and Wyona B. Lumberry Watkins.
She married Elmer T. Wood on Oct. 24, 1953, in Wyoming, Ill. He survives of Knoxville.
Also surviving are one son, Kendall A. Wood of Oak Run, Dahinda; three grandchildren, Adam T. (Shanda K.) Wood of Knoxville, Christopher L. Wood of Brimfield and Wyatt D. Wood of Oak Run, Dahinda; and four great-grandchildren, Joven Wood of Yates City, Mya C. Wood of Yates City, Evan T. Wood of Knoxville and Kaylee F. Wood of Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Kevin Wood.
She was raised and educated in Williamsfield, graduating from Williamsfield High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a charter member of Elmore United Methodist Church.
She was initiated into the Order of the Eastern Star of Illinois in Elmwood Chapter 251 in June 1964. Through mergers of chapters from Elmwood to Farmington to Fairview, she was now a member of Fairview Chapter 99, Order of the Eastern Star of Illinois. She has held most all the offices, first becoming worthy matron in Elmwood Chapter in 1973. She was also Worthy Matron in 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1989.
Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory, with the Revs. Randy Douglass and Darlene Reiner officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory, with Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m. by Fairview Chapter 99, Order of the Eastern Star. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery.
