Abingdon - Alfred Miller, 71, 802 W. Monmouth St., died at 6 a.m. Monday (Jan. 14, 2008) at home.

He was born May 11, 1936, in Parkman, Ohio, to Melvin MV, and Ida J. (Yoder) Miller. He married Wilma Jean Cooper on Dec. 19, 1959, in Chicago. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Paul (Martha Sandman) Miller of Abingdon and Jason (and Traci) Miller of rural route Galesburg; a daughter, Nadine (and Lloyd) Miller Wiebe of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Wallace (and Clara) Miller of New York; three sisters, Gertie (and Ervin) Bricker of New York, Mattie (and Mose) Weaver of Pennsylvania and Leah Miller of Middlefield, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Norita Miller.

He served in the Army Airborne for four years.

Al retired from the Maytag Company in Galesburg in May 1996 where he worked as chief electronic engineer.

He was a member of Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post 381 and the 11th Airborne Division Associations.

His hobbies included bowling, being a rock hound, electronics, photography, computers and woodworking.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery, with military rites by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post 381. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
