John W. Stroops 1959-2008 Tuesday, January 15, 2008 GALESBURG - John W. Stroops, 48, 23548 N. 3000 East Road, Emington, formerly of Galesburg, died at 9:43 p.m. Friday (Jan. 11, 2008) in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.He was born Feb. 24, 1959, in Galesburg, the son of Robert L. Sr. and Anna A. Gilbert Stroops. He is survived by one brother, Robert L. Stroops II of Galesburg; one sister, Roberta L. Fawcett of Galesburg; and special friends who cared for him, Barb, Bobbi and Rachel McClelland, all of Campus. He is preceded in death by his parents. He worked as a mental health technician for the former Galesburg Research Hospital, then the Kiley Development Center in Waukegan and later working for William W. Fox in Dwight. He retired in 2005. He earned his Eagle Scout. He was a Scout Master and started a Boy Scout troup at Kiley Development Center. He was a member of the AFSCME Union. A celebration of life will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Bob Wakefield will officiate. There will be no visitation.
