GALESBURG - Mrs. Nancy L. Day, 69, 805 Lawrence Ave., died at 10:43 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 12, 2008) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

She was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Galesburg, the daughter of Bernard L. and Helen May Fifield Irons. She married Roger W. Day on Oct. 1, 1963, in Rock Island. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Rick (Lori) Day of Quincy, John (Nancy) Day of Belleview, Fla., and Ted (Tina) Day of Knoxville; one daughter, Lynn (Dwayne) Burton of Galesburg; one stepdaughter, Cindy Ushman of Sherman; one brother, Richard Irons of Galesburg; two sisters, Donna Jo Hansbrough of Versailles, Ky., and Nancy's twin sister, Mary (Vernon) Johnson of Galesburg; eight grandchildren; and nine stepgrandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Barbara Ann Day on Jan. 7, 1967.

She worked for Western Illinois Ice Company, Coca Cola Bottling plant and Brown Lynch Scott. She later was a waitress at the former Sambos, the Kozy Inn and Gradys. She graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1956. She was on the alumni committee Class of 1956 at Corpus Christi High School. She was a member of Covenant Church, where she was involved in Ruth Circle. She enjoyed her grandchildren, crafts, bowling and gardening.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Covenant Church. The Revs. Thomas Ek and James Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
