A. Berniece (Hickey) Maglio
Monday, January 14, 2008Abingdon - A. Berniece (Hickey) Maglio, 93, 1045 Frank St., Galesburg, formerly of Abingdon, died at 9:48 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 12, 2008) at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg.
She was born Oct. 28, 1914, in Abingdon, a daughter of Onie and Francis Guernsey Chance. She attended school in Abingdon, graduating from Abingdon High School in 1932. She married Reid Hickey in 1935, the father of her two sons, David (and Janice) Hickey of Abingdon, and Michael (and Lorraine) Hickey of Galesburg.
She worked at several industries in Abingdon and Galesburg, retiring in 1976. She later married John Maglio in June 1974. He died in January 1990 of cancer.
Besides her two sons, Berniece also is survived by five grandchildren, Trisha McFall, Christy Woodard, Shawn Hickey, Kevin Hickey and Kimberly Erlandson; 10 great-grandchildren; a stepson, John Maglio in Pennsylvania; four stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Chance of Ormond Beach, Fla.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Deacon Jim Haneghan and Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
