William Jacob Heimann 1918-2008 Sunday, January 13, 2008 GALESBURG - William Jacob Heimann, 89, 683 N. Cherry St., died at 7:35 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 11, 2008) in Rosewood Care Center. He was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Attica, Ind., the son of Norman and Mary Lagreta Mann Heimann. He married Doris M. Greene on Oct. 21, 1939, in Chicago. She preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 1995. He is survived by three sons, William (and Carol) Heimann, Willowbrook, Dennis (and Gay) Heimann, LaVernia, Texas, and Timothy (and Catherine) Heimann, Galesburg; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Pat Blummer. He was the business manager for Westchester Public Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1977. He graduated from Fenger High School in Chicago in 1936. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg. He served as president of the Proviso Township Credit Union in Westchester. He was a hospice volunteer, a gentleman farmer and a devoted Chicago Cubs fan He lived in Chicago, Westchester, Attica, Ind., and in Galesburg since 1994. He served in the United States Army for 18 months and was stationed in the Philippines. Cremation will be accorded. Private family services will be later in Indiana. Memorials may be made to the American Boychoir School in Princeton, N.J., Knox College or Community Hospices of America in Galesburg.
