Glenn C. 'Charlie' Knuth

GALESBURG - Glenn C. "Charlie" Knuth, 87, died at 7:35 p.m. Friday (Jan. 11, 2008) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Sterling, the son of Glenn F. and Helen Rosengren Knuth. He married Mildred I. Darnell on May 10, 1941, in Tampico. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2001.
He is survived by two sons, Steven C. Knuth and Larry R. (and Sue) Knuth, both of Galesburg; three daughters, Glenda K. (and Glenn) Rasmussen, Manlius, and Janice Clay and Kathy L. (and John) Clifford, both of Galesburg; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert L. (Leona) Knuth, Savanna; and a sister, Marjorie H. (and Lance) Johnson, LeClaire, Iowa. He was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
He was a truck driver for Brown Specialty for over 30 years. He also worked for Nu-Way Movers. He retired in 1977.
He graduated from Sterling High School. He lived most of his life in Galesburg and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Teamster's Union and a past member of Moose Lodge 880. He was an avid fisherman and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed gardening and the outdoors.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. David Parker will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
